Advancing Internationalization: Doctoral Dissertation Defense at FMNS Unesa Features External Examiner from Universiti Brunei Darussalam

As part of its commitment to academic excellence and internationalization, the Doctoral Program in Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), held a closed dissertation examination featuring an external examiner from abroad on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

The examination was conducted for Anis Farida Jamil, M.Pd. (Student ID: 21070936006), a doctoral candidate in Mathematics Education. She presented her dissertation, “The Levelling of University Students’ Metacognitive Regulation in Collaborative Problem-Solving.”

This special occasion was marked by the participation of Associate Prof. Dr. Masitah Shahrill from Universiti Brunei Darussalam as the external examiner. Her involvement reflects the program’s ongoing efforts to uphold international academic standards and foster global collaboration, particularly in mathematics education.

As one of the internal examiners, the Vice Dean of FMNS Unesa, Prof. Rooselyna Ekawati, Ph.D., expressed that this activity is a tangible step toward realizing FMNS Unesa’s becoming a globally reputable university. “Involving international examiners not only enriches the academic discourse but also opens up broader opportunities for research collaboration and scientific development,” she said.

The examination proceeded smoothly, featuring an engaging academic discussion between the candidate and the examination board. Through initiatives like this, the Doctoral Program in Mathematics Education at Unesa continues to prepare globally competitive research-oriented graduates who are ready to contribute to the international academic community
