About The Program
The Workshop on Bifurcation Theory and Perturbation Method for Differential Equations is a long-standing academic event that has been conducted since 2001. In 2026, it will take place and be hosted by the Mathematics Department, Universitas Negeri Surabaya in Surabaya, Indonesia. This workshop is supported by the Indonesian Mathematical Society. It aims to deepen knowledge in applied mathematics and strengthen collaborations among mathematicians, especially from Southeast Asian countries. The workshop covers topics of bifurcation theory and perturbation methods applied to mathematical models in mechanical engineering, population dynamics, and infectious diseases. Participants seeking a Ph.D. in Mathematics at TU Delft, the Netherlands, may receive a Letter of Acceptance through this summer
school.
About The Local Institution
The SEAMS School is hosted by the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa). Located at the Ketintang Campus in Surabaya, the department offers two academic programs in mathematics: the Bachelor of Science (S.Si.) and the newly established Master of Science (M.Si.), with strengths in Analysis, Algebra, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Combinatorics, Statistics, Geometry, and Topology.
Academic Strengths
The programs adopt Outcome-Based Education aligned with the Indonesian National Qualification Framework and 21st-Century Skills. FMIPA Unesa is well known for the implementation of research-based education by conducting innovative pedagogical approaches leveraging technology and student-centered methodologies. The department also publishes peer-reviewed journals JRAM and MATHunesa and hosts an annual international conference, INCIRESMA, bringing together scholars from around the world. The department actively promotes global engagement through research collaborations, staff mobility, invited lectures, student exchanges, short courses, and participation in international seminars and competitions.

Expected Participants
We expect around 25 participants from various universities in Southeast Asia, including students, researchers, and professionals. The selection process aims for broad institutional and regional representation to ensure a diversity of academic perspectives.
We are also firmly committed to gender parity and aim for at least 50% female participation. This goal is realistic and supported by recent trends: at Surabaya State University, nearly 80% of mathematics students are women, and at the 2024 workshop on differential equations in Yogyakarta, 67% of participants were women. These indicators provide a solid foundation for achieving our goal of inclusion.
